The Deliverable

To create a digital product, essentially a set of icons alongside a promotional webpage that explains why the Icons were created.

Above is an image of the mindmap expanding on my idea of doing coffee for my project. I covered all coffee related things I could think of. For instance, the fact that there is 12 to 15 different types of coffees. The most popular includes the espresso, cappuccino and Americano. I then identified the 3 most common brands people identify with coffee, this included Starbucks, Costa and Cafe Nero.

Coffee - My Icon Theme

Once Coffee was selected as the theme for my icons I began thinking of different ways I could promote this on my website. One of my original ideas was to show small unique coffee shop locations in Belfast, however I thought this was maybe a bit too complicated as our pwebsite deliverableis only one page.

I then had the idea that I could convey what each coffee icon says about you, for instance if you're more of a flat white drinker or an espresso type of person, then you'll have various qualities. Before I began planning this though, I started out by roughly sketching out the 12 icons that I was going to use for this deliverable, before then starting to create them on Adobe Illustrator.

The 12 icons I sketched to then design:

  • Flat White
  • Espresso
  • Cappuccino
  • Take Away Coffee
  • Long Black
  • Latte
  • Frappunccino
  • French Press Coffee
  • Mocha
  • Coffee Beans
  • Latte Macchiato
  • Irish Coffee
